Processing and luminescence of Eu/Dy-doped Sr2MgSi2O7 glass-ceramics

Glass-ceramics based on the Eu/Dy-doped Sr2MgSi2O7 phosphor have been obtained from sintering and crystallization of glass powders. Electric gas furnaces were employed for melting. The doped parent glasses show red emission under excitation UV light whereas corresponding glass-ceramics blue emission. microstructure crystals responsible observed by scanning electron microscopy-cathodoluminescence. composition crystallised phases distribution incorporation rare-earth (RE) ions into remaining glassy phase determined X-ray diffraction energy dispersive analysis, respectively. Photoluminescence spectra showed a main peak at 484 nm assigned to typical Eu2+ transitions 390 in glass-ceramics. presence Dy3+ improved persistence samples melted furnace. are sensitive temperature, which modifies both time red-blue luminescence.
